Well Fausto, you can be a pedant all you like what with all the liberal and banning issues. Let’s call it collateral discussion. When you decide to discuss the real issue – how the electoral process in our country is an insulting mockery of the population I’ll be around to reply.

Oh but we are already although I’m trying to out things in the right perspective and it seems we are getting there. You are miffled because your personal data is not well protected (your mobile phone number), your mailbox is clogged with junkmail (seemingly, only of the political kind) and you notice that politicians try to make themselves look more attractive by hanging out with sexy singers.

You have all my sympathy there, if not my agreement. But then you go ahead, talk in collective nouns like “the electorate” and “the population” who — surprise, surprise — have your same qualms and who seem to have appointed you not only as their voice but also as their brains.

Oh, not to forget their eyes. Have I seen canvassers drag reluctant voters to the polling station? Sure I have. But I have seen many more instances of voters who hardly have the strength to crawl out of bed insisting strongly with relatives and health workers to take them to vote against the latters’ better judgment. And it is unlikely that Ira’s legs did it.

It’s fine if you feel mocked by that. Just don’t project what’s yours on the entire electorate. It’s still one man, one vote, which is still secret and free.

Andre: if you are referring to your open letter feel free to post it on TMC! And next time you do not need my permission (or anyone’s for that matter). The heavy hand of censorship will only move if we see that material is either openly libellous (and we would move to protect the writer too) or completely beyond the scope of this blog (like blogging about The Open Sea Race for example).

The treatment of the electorate like a bunch of party craving imbeciles who would not be twisted by anything other than a freebie drink, a concert or a tombola party.

I had posted about this on my blog… I didn’t post it here cause I’m not sure whether I was polite or not.

Fausto is right. He is so right he is way way right… a sort of far out right… yep far right
